This network is the result of the semantic analysis of proposals (abstracts) which were submitted for the IST-Program of the Fifth Framework Programme. Dots represent notions, lines indicate relations which emerge because certain words frequently show up together with others in the same abstract. The clusters you see are computed with the PAJEK's ISLAND-Algorithm which tries to find areas in which the density of relations is higher than in the immediate surrounding. In the long run this kind of analysis should lead to a kind of bottom-up-classification of the research projects that are financed by the European Union.
