The upper graph illustrates clusters of a Viennese Youth Location Network. The data was compiled by the client through street interviews with people aged between 14 and 23. 394 people were selected randomly at hubs in different neighbourhoods which accounts for a diverse population. By indicating locations where they would normally go to in the evening, data of 203 different locations were compiled and then mapped. Locations are connected with each other if these two spots were mentioned by the same person. The more often the same couple of locations was indicated by somebody the stronger is the line linking them. Applying a clustering algorithm the network of 203 locations breaks into different clusters that each cater to a different scene or community. The graph above shows the largest clusters found. The color indicates the affiliation to a particular social profile. The size of the node indicates the centrality of a location within the cluster. The larger the location appears the more diverse the crowd at this hub is, even within that cluster.
